How to Delete Your Lovable Account & Data

Deleting your Lovable account permanently removes your login, project list, and prompt history. Before you do it, export any projects you want to keep — account deletion is not reversible. This guide covers how to request deletion, what data Lovable removes, what they retain, and how to handle your Supabase backend separately.

How do I delete my Lovable account?

Lovable does not currently offer a self-serve account deletion button inside the product. Account deletion is handled by contacting Lovable support and requesting deletion under your applicable data privacy rights. Depending on your jurisdiction — GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California, or similar — Lovable is legally required to process your deletion request within a set timeframe.

To request account deletion: email support@lovable.dev from the email address associated with your Lovable account. In the subject line, write 'Account deletion request'. In the body, state your account email address, confirm you understand that deletion is permanent and irreversible, and reference the relevant privacy law if applicable (e.g. 'I am making this request under GDPR Article 17').

Under GDPR, Lovable must respond within 30 days and either confirm deletion or explain why a delay or partial deletion applies. Under CCPA, the timeline is 45 days with a possible 45-day extension. Keep the email confirmation of your request — you may need it if the deletion is not processed within the legal timeframe.

  1. Export all projects you want to keep to GitHub before proceeding — deletion removes all project data.
  2. Cancel any active paid subscription first (Profile icon → Settings → Plans & Billing → Downgrade to Free).
  3. Email support@lovable.dev from your account email with subject: 'Account deletion request'.
  4. In the body: state your email, confirm you understand deletion is irreversible, and cite applicable privacy law.
  5. Save the sent email and note the date — this starts the legal response clock.
  6. Expect a confirmation response within 5–30 business days depending on your jurisdiction.
Account deletion is irreversible. Once Lovable processes the deletion, your projects, prompt history, and account data cannot be restored. Export to GitHub first — this takes under five minutes and gives you a permanent copy of your code.

What data does Lovable delete when I close my account?

Lovable's account deletion should cover: your login credentials and profile data, your project list and associated prompt history, your billing information, and any personal data processed under their privacy policy. What is retained post-deletion varies — anonymised analytics data, aggregated usage statistics, and information required by financial regulations (typically 7 years) may be kept.

If you want explicit confirmation of exactly what is and is not deleted, include a data access request alongside your deletion request. Under GDPR, you can first request a copy of all personal data Lovable holds on you (Subject Access Request), review it, and then request deletion of specific data categories. This two-step approach gives you a clear audit trail.

Payment records and invoices are typically retained for legal and tax compliance purposes regardless of account deletion. If you need copies of past invoices, download them from the billing section before requesting deletion.

What happens to my projects when I delete my account?

All projects associated with your account will be deleted as part of the account removal process. This includes project code, version history, prompt history, and any team collaboration data. Public projects that have been shared via a public URL will also be removed. This is why exporting to GitHub before deletion is essential.

If you have collaborators on a project, they will also lose access when you delete your account and its associated projects. Notify any collaborators in advance and ensure the project has been transferred or exported to GitHub before proceeding with deletion.

If the project is connected to a live Supabase backend and deployed at a custom domain, deleting your Lovable account does not take your deployed app offline — the deployment is on your hosting provider, which is separate from Lovable. Only the Lovable editor access and project dashboard are removed.

If you have a live production app: deleting your Lovable account does not affect your deployed site, your Supabase backend, or your custom domain. The app continues running on your hosting provider. Only your ability to edit via Lovable's editor is removed.

What happens to my Supabase project if I delete my Lovable account?

Nothing. Your Supabase project is completely independent of your Lovable account. Supabase billing, data, auth users, and storage are all managed through Supabase — they have no connection to your Lovable account status. You will continue to have full access to your Supabase dashboard and all your data after Lovable account deletion.

The only Supabase-related item to note: if Lovable stored your Supabase credentials in the editor integration, those credentials will be removed. Save your Supabase project URL and anon key to a secure password manager before deleting your Lovable account so you can reconnect them to a new deployment or editor if needed.

Should I delete my account or just cancel the subscription?

If your concern is billing — stopping future charges — cancelling the subscription (downgrading to free) is sufficient. You do not need to delete your account to stop being charged. Account deletion is the right choice if you want to fully remove your personal data from Lovable's systems or you simply have no intention of ever returning to the platform.

Cancelling keeps your account, projects, and prompt history accessible on the free tier. Deletion removes all of it permanently. The choice depends on whether you want a clean break or just want to stop paying. Most users who are frustrated with Lovable — bugs, costs, platform limits — benefit more from migration to a proper codebase than from full account deletion.

How do I know if my account has been deleted?

Lovable support should send a confirmation email once your account deletion is processed. To verify independently, attempt to sign in with your account credentials after the stated deletion date — a 'no account found' message confirms deletion. If you can still sign in after the expected date, follow up with support.

  1. Wait for the confirmation email from Lovable support.
  2. After the expected deletion date, attempt to sign in at lovable.dev using your account credentials.
  3. A 'no account found' or 'invalid credentials' message confirms the account is removed.
  4. If you can still sign in, reply to your original support email with the sign-in evidence and request an update.
  5. For GDPR requests, note that Lovable has 30 days from the date of your request — not from their first response.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a delete account button inside Lovable?
Not currently. Lovable does not offer a self-serve account deletion option in the product UI. Deletion is handled by emailing support@lovable.dev and requesting deletion under your applicable privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA, or similar).
How long does it take Lovable to delete my account?
Under GDPR, Lovable must respond and process the deletion within 30 days of your request. Under CCPA, the limit is 45 days with a possible 45-day extension. Reference the applicable law in your email to start the legal clock.
Can I recover my account after deletion?
No. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lovable cannot restore a deleted account. Export your projects to GitHub and save any important billing information before submitting your deletion request.
Will deleting my Lovable account affect my Supabase data?
No. Your Supabase project is independent of Lovable. Databases, auth users, storage files, and all Supabase data are unaffected by Lovable account deletion. Log into your Supabase dashboard directly to manage your backend going forward.
Do I need to cancel my subscription before deleting my account?
Yes — cancel the subscription first (downgrade to free) to ensure no further charges are processed. Then request account deletion. If you request deletion while on a paid plan, confirm in your email that you also want the subscription cancelled as part of the process.
What data does Lovable keep after I delete my account?
Lovable may retain anonymised analytics, aggregated usage statistics, and financial records required by law (typically 7 years). Personal identifiable information should be removed. Request a Subject Access Request alongside your deletion request if you want a full breakdown of what is retained.
Can I delete just some of my projects instead of my whole account?
Yes. Project deletion is available from within the Lovable project dashboard — click the project menu and look for a delete option. You do not need to delete your entire account to remove individual projects. Deleting a project is also irreversible, so export to GitHub first.
I built an app on Lovable that is now live — will deleting my account take it offline?
No. Your live deployment runs on your hosting provider — Vercel, Netlify, or another host — and is completely separate from your Lovable account. Deleting your Lovable account only removes your access to the Lovable editor. Your live app, custom domain, and Supabase backend are unaffected.
What should I do with my custom domain before deleting my Lovable account?
If your custom domain is connected through Lovable's hosting, reconnect it to an alternative host before requesting account deletion. Export your code to GitHub, deploy to Vercel or Netlify, and point your domain's DNS to the new host. Once that is live, you can safely delete your Lovable account without any downtime.
